Adoption at Avalon

Upon arrival at Avalon, all bunnies receive veterinary evaluation and care, including flea and mite treatment as needed.  Bunnies are vaccinated for RHDV2, and most are spayed/neutered before being adopted.  For those that are not fixed prior to adoption (this can happen when a baby is adopted before being old enough for surgery), we work with adoptive families to make that happen ASAP, using our vet or theirs.  Until the bunnies are fixed, we consider them as a "foster to adopt" status. Spaying and neutering bunnies is incredibly important for their overall health and general wellbeing.

BASIC ADOPTION REQUIREMENTS

Did You Know....

Hera

Female, spayed, vaccinated

Breed: Tan mix

Age: estimated 2-2.5 years

Litter trained: yes

Hera was rescued with 10 other bunnies in Southern Oregon, and 8 who came to Avalon in total. She arrived super thin. You could feel every bone in her body. Hera is slowly gaining weight with a new high calorie diet. She is beautiful and quiet for now, but we can tell that's because she is scared and hasn't shown her whole personality yet. Hera was left behind by someone who went to prison and left all of the animals in their care with no food, water, shelter, etc. It's a miracle she survived. Hera is a warrior!

She has the most beautiful patterns on her fur, and the prettiest deep brown eyes. Hera is great with her potty box, and is very gentle and sweet. She still startles easily, but melts in your arms once she trusts you. When she feels safe, she is curious, exploratory, and loving.

She would do best in a home with no young children or very calm kids due to her worried nature

Beatrix & Hokey-Pokey

Beatrix

Female, dwarf mix, spayed, vaccinated, litter trained (brown)

DOB: December  2020 est.

Hokey Pokey

Male, Havana mix, neutered, vaccinated, litter trained (black)

DOB: 10/14/22

Special perks: half flopped ears!

Beatrix and Hokey Pokey were neighbors here at Avalon.  Shortly after Hokey Pokey moved in, we woke up one morning to find him snuggling  with Beatrix - he had somehow managed to break in to her enclosure! We separated them, but he kept finding  his way back to her, so we figured it was true love.  And it was - they bonded themselves, without any help from us humans, and we think they're the cutest couple ever :)

Beatrix was rescued from someone who planned to put her on the dinner table!  At first, she was an extremely hormonal and scared bunny, which is not surprising, considering her precarious past.  But, after spaying her and showing her what love and safety look like, she's calmed down and is a mild mannered lady.   She has loads of personality, and clearly won over the cutest male bunny here at Avalon.

Little Hoquiam (Hokey Pokey) is one of rescued mom, Calliope's babies, and he's a carbon copy of his mama in almost every way.  both are solid black with one right front paw - we like to say Calliope made herself a little twin :)

He has the nicest personality, with puppy dog eyes to match. We think he  can get whatever he wants with those sweet little brown eyes, shy demeanor and adorable little face.

Hokey-Pokey stands out from the rest of his siblings, and every bunny at the rescue because of his adorable ears - they BOTH flop to his left side!

Needless to say, Hokey Pokey is up for the "Best Ears award at the 2023 Bunny Awards this year, and we are confident he will take home the prize.

Jubilee- Bonded to Calliope

Female, spayed, vaccinated

DOB: 10/14/22

Breed: Hotot mix

RHD vaccine: yes

Jubilee was born from rescue mom Calliope's litter. Calliope was found pregnant and living outdoors in a colony after being dumped.

Jubilee is the shy, sweet, and small lady of the litter. She is very loving and really enjoys finding cozy places to flop for a nap.

Unfortunately, she was born with a genetic defect resulting in an eyelid entropion, which is where the eyelid tucks into the eye, resulting in ulcers and abrasions from her fur and eyelashes. She got a small suture put in her eyelid to hold it our of her eye, and will need a more major corrective surgery when she is over 5-6 months old. Jubilee is doing wonderful and will need a very loving home!

Calliope- Bonded to Jubilee

Female, spayed, vaccinated, litter trained

Breed: Havana mix

DOB: January 2022 est.

(orange coloring is urine bleaching, her normal coloring is solid black with white speckles and a white paw! )

Calliope was rescued several months ago after a 6 hour mission to capture as many rabbits as possible from a feral colony. A family dumped 2 bunnies who werent fixed, and they bred and now dozens of rabbits still need help. Calliope, as you can see, was sprayed so often with urine that it actually bleached her normal fur. Time will fix this and return her to her normal, silky black coat.

Calliope was pregnant, and delivered 6 babies within just 2 weeks of coming home. Her babies are 8+ weeks old now and she is ready to find her home soon as well. Now that she doesn't need to nurse she can be spayed very soon.

Calliope is VERY sweet, and potty trained. She is very curious and has the most beautiful brown eyes and eyelashes.

We think Calliope might like to potentially be rehomed with one of her babies. Possibly one of her little girls, Jubilee, Racer, or Allegra. This will be ideal when Calliope is spayed, and her other little baby can be fixed at the appropriate age. She is really close to her little babies and it would be sad to separate her from all of them.

Calliope is really the sweetest and most wholesome bunny and momma. She deserves nothing but a life of pure comfort, happiness, and tons of treats.

Gossamer

Male

Havana Mix

DOB: February 1, 2022 est.

Baby Gossamer was found outdoors and scooped up to safety by a sister sanctuary in chilly February, 2022.  He was just a few weeks old at the time, and appeared healthy and well fed, except that one of his front arms just hung limp.  We suspect he fell out of mama's nest at a rabbit farm adjacent to the sanctuary where he was found.  Since we specialize in bunnies, he came to stay with us, for special care and recovery.  Gossie saw a vet right away and his exam revealed zero fractures or dislocations. So... he spent time on cage rest with lots of love, and wouldn't you know it - he started using his front paw in mid March!!  Though he is still a bit tentative, we are beyond thankful that he has regained mobility to his injured limb!!

Besides having the cutest little black coat and most luscious lashes ever, this sweet boy has one very adorable white paw.  He has a curious, playful personality and has adjusted well to the sights and sounds of our busy household.

We would love for Gossie to be placed with a bunny savvy, Portland area foster until he is old enough to be neutered and, eventually, adopted.

Rolf

Male, neutered

Est DOB: 8/1/22

Breed: lionhead mix

Rolf was rescued in April 2023 from a backyard breeder pulling off a small "Easter operation". They were irresponsibly using Rolf to breed lots of little babies, and was selling them at only 4 weeks old on craiglist. We stepped in and took the bunnies she had left, including Rolf.  He is a teeny-tiny, kind, shy boy who like to explore new things. He is litter trained, and also enjoys sun bathing in his litter box as well!

Rolf does well with other animals, but would do best in a calmer and quieter home. Respectful kids, dogs, and cats are ok of course!

He would be a great candidate for bonding to a more outgoing female bun one day.

Sweet Rosie Sue

Female, Dutch lop mix

Awaiting spay and vaccination

DOB: age unknown

Sometimes, you're just minding your own business when a stranger knocks on your door and begs for help with a bunny they saw dumped on the street in front of their house.  And when the bunny is as innocent and sweet as this girl, it's a no brainer to say yes.

Sweet Rosie Sue came to Avalon on June 16th.  She arrived in a the too small, very dirty cage she was dumped in on a hot summer day.  The woman who saw her being dumped was at a complete loss for words at what she had just witnessed.  We know nothing about this girl's past, but we do know her future!  She will be getting a complete health check, RHD vaccinated and spayed.  Most important, she will be loved and will be with us until we can find the absolute perfect family for her.

Sundae

Female, New Zealand Mix

DOB 4/25/23

This cutie's colors remind us of an ice cream sundae, that we decided to name her Sundae!  This smarty pants would like you to know that she is in the top of her class at Bunny School, and her teacher, Miss Ariel, gives her excellent marks for Binkying, Napping and Tooth Purring.  She doesn't like Miss Ariel grooming her all the time, but we keep telling her that Miss Ariel is teaching her good hygiene, which is very important for a bunny - especially one named after a sticky, gooey, messy treat.  Could Sundae be the girl for you?  She is available as "foster to adpot" until she is fixed, later this fall.

Scutterbotch

Female, New Zealand Mix

DOB 4/25/23

Scutterbotch, anyone?  This girl is cuter than a bowl of butterscotch pudding is tasty!

We love her mostly orange-ness, and her adorable white, boopable nose.  And, you ushould know, she is completely innocent of ANY wrong doing.  If something has gone wrong in the house, it wasn't this girl -- it was the other bunny.  She is perfect and sweet and she never does anything bad.   (Can't you tell by her cute expression?)  Scutterbotch is available as a "foster to adopt" until she can be fixed this fall.  If she's the bunny girl of your dreams, don't miss out on the chance to meet her.  She is a little lovie!

Valentine

Male, New Zealand Mix

DOB 4/25/23

Sweet Valentine is so named because his tiny nose looks like a heart, and he has the sweetest disposition to go with his namesake.  His hobbies include hide-and-seek, sharing lunch with his siblings, and napping.  He is currently being fostered in a busy home with kids and he is thriving.  Until Valentine can be fixed in early fall, he will be considered "foster to adopt."

Ash (Ashley)

Female, New Zeland/Rex Mix

DOB 4/25/23

This girl has the classic, velvety soft Rex coat and adorable short and curly whiskers.  Her favorite napping spot is the cat tree, and her favorite treats are getting pets from her humans and baths from her foster bun-mom, Ariel.  Ash will be considered "foster to adopt" until she is old enough to be fixed this fall.

Thunder

Male, New Zealand Mix

DOB 4/25/23

If there were a bunny gang, Thunder would be the leader, but only because his name sounds tough.  This sweetie pie is all softness and love, with an adorable, boopable nose and a cute crescent marking on his forehead.  He also has the most gorgeous lavender-grey eyes. He's looking for the perfect humans to love him and will be considered "foster to adopt" until he is old enough to be fixed this fall.

Missoni

Male, New Zealand Mix

DOB 4/25/23

As unique and colorful as a vintage Italian sweater, this dapper little man is the fashionista of the family, and a model in the making.  We think he strikes the perfect pose.

We just can't get enough of this little one's cute mouth and looong whiskers. Can we just give him kisses all day long?  Missoni is living his best life, with his brothers, in a busy house full of kids in Vancouver.  His favorites are binkying, napping and snuggling up for as much love as he can get.  He will be considered "foster to adpot" until he is old enough to be fixed, this fall.

Blackberry Pie

Male, New Zealand Mix

DOB 4/25/23

Look at this little cutie pie, innocently looking at his prop apple, just waiting for a nibble.

Boopable Nose - Check

Fairy Kiss on his forehead - Check

Gorgeous brown eyes - Also, Check

This sweetest of sweetie pies ever is looking for love, and we have a feeling it won't  take him long to find it.  While we wait for the perfect name for him, he would like you to know that he feels he is the cutest of his litter, and that a human put a dot on his ear so they would know he was a boy.  He's too young for treats, but we think he will like blackberries (duh!) when he gets older.  Speaking of older, he will be fixed as soon as he is old enough, later this fall.  Until then, he will be considered "foster to adpot."

Tesla

Female, New Zealand/Rex mix

DOB 4/25/23

This little girl is one of Maggie's first litter of kits.  Named for the little "T" on her forehead, sweet Tesla was a little camera shy for her Glamour Shot, and needed a friend to help her feel safe.   This girl is used to being around all her siblings, other house bunnies, and even a big orange kitty.  She knows all the best hiding places in the house and wants nothing more than to be loved.  Oh, and did we mention she has a luscious Rex coat?  Yup!  Silky soft.

Tesla will be considered "foster to adopt" until she can be fixed, sometime early this fall.

Maggie's second litter - born June 1st

fostered in Vancouver, WA

Hank (fostered)

Male, neutered, vaccinated, harlequin mix

DOB- estimated spring 2021

The sweetest boy ever still needs a family! Hank was rescued with over 20 other rabbits from a dumping case in Amity, OR, right before a massive snowstorm.  Hank arrived to his foster extremely frightened, and has worked hard to warm up to people. He is very sweet, sassy, and funny. He loves to flip his food bowl to ask for more, and explore his surroundings. He would make an excellent "husbun" for a spayed female looking for a partner!

Wilma - Mother of Buns

fostered in Portland

Female, New Zealand

Spay date: August, First RHD Vax: July 18

Wilma was rescued with over 20 bunnies who had been dumped in Amity, Oregon in March.  We always assume rescued females are pregnant until they prove to us they aren't.  Whelp, let's just say that on March, 13, 2023, it was very apparent that sweet Wilma could NOT prove it, because she gave birth to eight tiny babies.  But, that's okay, because her beautiful beebs are the cutest and sweetest ever, and Wilma is a great mama.  Because she was dumped, we have no idea of her history or age.  All we know is that she is SO deserving of all the love in the world and her foster mom has been showering her and the babies with all the love and comfort a bun could want.  Now it's time for Wilma to start looking for her very own Happily Every After.  Could she be the one for you?

Raspberry & Boysenberry

Males, New Zealand, Neutered,

DOB 2/14/23

These two boys are bonded brothers, rescued with girls Ivy and Eleanor,  from a meat farm, and saved just before they were set to be slaughtered.  A bonded pair of males is very, very rare.  These two were neutered at the first possible opportunity, to help cement their special connection.  They are both incredibly soft, sweet boys with calm demeanors typical for New Zealand bunnies.  But one is very outgoing and the other is quite shy.  Although timid Raspberry is in charge, he lets his brother, Boysenberry, do all the exploring and reconnaissance missions, while he sits, safely, in the background.  Tell us you don't need these Sweetie Pies in your life.  They are Berry sweet, and looking for love.
